It has been four days since the official unveiling of the iPhone SDK. Developers were amazed by the capabilities demonstrated by the SDK, from the likes of Spore, and Super Monkey Ball.

This amazement has turned into some serious numbers for Apple. Since its’ release, the SDK as seen 100,000 downloads from Apple’s servers. The video of the conference has already received nearly 1,000,000 views since they made the video public.

It’s not perplexing to see why the SDK has seen so much success at this early stage. If you were to see Spore on the iPhone, and then after seeing it realized it only took EA two weeks to develop, you’d know why developers are already downloading.

On top of what looks to be an easy to use SDK, there is the $100 million fund invested by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers to aspiring iPhone developers.

So what are you doing reading this article, go and join the masses and see if you can design the next great iPhone App. The SDK can be downloaded here (login required).

Beatles - iTunes Deal Looks To Be False

It was reported by a slew of news site (mostly Apple news) that the Beatle’s songs were going to finally be available for download on iTunes. It is looking like the information is false, as of now.

Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a company owned by Sony and Michael Jackson has denied the reports that the Beatles songs would be coming to iTunes. The reports on the deal was substantiated by three major British newspapers, therefore many sites (this one included) was reporting the good news of the deal.

It is now being reported by CNET that the newspapers’ findings were not true. According to the CNET report, they got in contact with a spokewoman of Sony/ATV Music Publishing who said that they and Apple have had no dialogue on any Beatles deal.

I apologize for getting any Beatle’s fans and iTunes fans excited about the deal. Let’s hope that even though the report turned out to be false, this might get the ball rolling, and maybe talks between these two companies will commence.

“Can’t Buy Me Love” - Could Be Bought Sometime This Year

One of the big negative factors in purchasing music online, is that the catalogs aren’t nearly as hefty as what you find at a retail store. While the ease of downloading, and not having to get up is a huge plus, if the online store doesn’t have what you want then what’s the point?

Things are looking up as one of the most popular bands of all time look to be given the iTunes treatment. If the title of the article didn’t give it away, that band is The Beatles. Up until now you could only download each band member’s solo work. There are so many licensing issues with the Beatles’ music that it looked like Beatles downloads were never going to happen.

It’s looking like the deal should wrap up by the end of the year. With all the licensing issues like, “who owns what song or album”, it will take alittle longer than most downloads to be ready.

The original report was given by a British tabloid, that McCartney gave the “thumbs-up” for the project to begin. Royalties from the downloads would go to McCartney, Starr, and the families of the late Harrison, and Lennon.

Apple Releases iPhone SDK Details

The release of the iPhone’s SDK is now official. Earlier today, Apple released all the details that developer’s have anxiously been awaiting. iPhone users can go ahead and look forward to many applications and games that are being made for the iPhone.

The kit uses the same program and interface that Apple uses for its’ own applications. Cocoa Touch is a source code that developers will use in order for touch screen to be available for their programs. A modified version of X Code will be used to write the programs, which proves the rumors about the kits being Mac exclusive true, as X Code comes with Mac OS X. An iPhone simulator has been released so that the developers can test their programs while creating them.

iPhone users who are anxiously waiting for the applications to start pouring in, can already look forward to a few that were announced. First, AOL will be releasing a iPhone ready AIM Messenger, which is already in the works. Spore, an EA game being released later in the year can be expected to make an appearance on the iPhone. Fans of the Super Monkey Ball series can get excited, as a demo of the game was shown off at the SDK conference as well.

iPhone SDK Releases Today, Rumors Have Already Started

AT 10 am PST, the iPhone SDK will be released to developers across the country. If you’ve been keeping up with your iPod news, then you’d know that third-party developers have had no dev kit to produce applications for the iPhone.

Although the release is still a couple of hours away, rumors as to what is going to be mentioned have started. The big rumor that has surfaced is that the SDK will only be compatible with Mac OS X. Even though the iPhone is compatible for use on PCs or Macs, it has been speculated that the only developers using Macs will be able to create software for the iPhone.

Gamers should also rejoice, as it is being rumored that Electronics Arts and Gameloft will be producing iPhone titles.
