The days of the Mac being an absolute ghost town for games have long passed, particularly since Epic plans to deliver much love to Mac gamers.

Once upon a time, when the Apple II was in vogue, the game library for the Apple platform consisted of whatever you had the time to copy out of a book of games written in BASIC (and then debug). In 1993, we actually got a FPS game, Pathways Into Darkness, from Bungie.

Epic VP Mark Rein has disclosed the gaming landscape for Mac will become a lot more fun:

Back at WWDC one of the most surprising things was the emphasis on gaming. Well apparently Uncle Steve and Co. were serious as Epic has confirmed that the Xbox 360 mega-hit Gears of War as well as the highly anticipated Unreal Tournament 3 are both coming to the Mac.

The Unofficial Apple Weblog picked up on this from a video on Gametrailers.com. Gears of War has been a big success on the Xbox 360, and the news will be even better once Epic nails down a release date for the Mac version.
