Apple has added refurbished 4GB and 8GB iPhones to its discounted refurbished technology section of the online Apple store.
If you can handle less than perfect and wouldn’t mind a hundred dollar discount, Apple’s Certified Refurbished store has an iPhone deal for you. $399 for the 4GB, $499 for the 8GB models, and one Gizmodo commenter suggested these are store demo models that can’t be sold as new.
The paranoid refurb buyer can pick up two more years of AppleCare for $69.
The iPhone may be worth the purchase at either new or refurb pricing. A survey cited by Seeking Alpha said the harsh critics questioned by ChangeWave Alliance had lots of love for the iPhone, giving it a 92 percent satisfaction rating. That’s the highest of any cellphone rating Seeking Alpha has seen.

Read between the lines. If there are already enough “refurbished” iphones available so soon after it’s release to sell them via the apple store, I’d say there are major problems with the device.
I so wanted the iPhone to be my first cell phone and my second PDA… unfortunately Apple dropped the ball on this device.
Maybe v2.0 will get it right?
