MacRumors, is reporting some patent news today. It seems that Apple is expanding on a previous patent for bringing local based content to iPhone users.

In the old patent, Apple would make is possible for users to place orders at local stores. It would require the user to scroll through a menu on their iPhone, and press a button, and VOILA your order would be ready.

It looks like Apple is wanting to expand on that idea, by offering even more content. The new patent application, would include information on local events, such as movies, concerts, and local restaurants. The idea of purchasing movie tickets, and food orders is also a possibility.

Local-based content is a beast, that if tamed can really add a special touch to information devices. If and when Apple does release this, it will be yet another breakthrough that makes Apple products stand above the rest.
