When you do better than your competitors, it’s nice. When you do almost four times as well, then you’re in pretty great shape. And that’s where Apple finds itself today, as Mac sales were up 26.2 percent for the second quarter, compared to an industry average of just 7.2 percent.

“Apple shipped 960,000 computers during the three month period,” reports Apple 2.0’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt, who later notes, “No. 1 computer maker Dell, by contrast, sold 4.85 million computers in the U.S. during Q2, for a 28.4% market share.”

Dell may not be too pleased with these results, but I bet Apple is holding a lot of parties.
